10/13/24 Worship Outline

Morning Liturgy

Welcome and Announcements

Call to Worship: Psalm 5:7-8, 11

Leader: But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house.

People: I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.

Leader: Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies;

make your way straight before me.

People: But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy.

TH #358  “For All the Saints”

For all the saints who from their labors rest,
who thee by faith before the world confessed,

thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest.

Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might;
thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight;
thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

O may thy soldiers faithful, true, and bold,
fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
and win with them the victor's crown of gold.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

The golden evening brightens in the west;
soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;
sweet is the calm of paradise the blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
the saints triumphant rise in bright array;
the King of glory passes on his way.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast,
through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
Alleluia! Alleluia!

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: Honor your father and your mother.

People: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Leader: You shall not murder.

People: Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

Leader: You shall not commit adultery.

People: Everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Leader: You shall not steal.

People: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.  Do your work quietly and earn your own living.

Leader: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

People: Having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor.

Leader: You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor's.

People: For the whole law is fulfilled in one word:  "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Silent Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Grace – Romans 5:1

Songbook #38   “I Love You, Lord”

I love You Lord

And I lift my voice

To worship You

O my soul rejoice

Take joy my King

In what You hear

May it be a sweet sweet sound

In Your ear

Prayer of the Church: Elder Bill Wood

Psalm 101 “Of Loyalty and Justice” [Tune: TH #347]

Of loyalty and justice,

I raise my voice in song;

To You, O LORD, I lift up

These words with music strong.

The perfect way I ponder;

When will You come to me?

I’ll live within my palace

With true integrity.

I do not let my eyes dwell

On any worthless thing;

The deeds of an apostate

Will never to me cling.

May thinking that is twisted

Be kept away from me;

I’ll not consent to evil

Or do wrong knowingly.

I’ll uproot him who slyly

His neighbor vilifies.

I’ll not endure the proud heart,

Or him with lofty eyes.

My eyes are on the faithful,

That they may dwell with me;

The one whose walk is blameless

Will serve and wait on me.

The one who is deceptive

Will not abide with me;

He’ll not keep his position

Who speaks deceitfully.

Each morning on the wicked

Destruction I will pour;

To free from evildoers

The city of the LORD

PRAYER OF APPLICATION & THE LORD’S PRAYER

TH #429 “Let Thy Blood in Mercy Poured”

Let thy blood in mercy poured,
let thy gracious body broken,
be to me, O gracious Lord,
of thy boundless love the token:

Refrain:
Thou didst give thyself for me,
now I give myself to thee.

Thou didst die that I might live;
blessed Lord, thou cam'st to save me;
all that love of God could give
Jesus by his sorrows gave me. [Refrain]

By the thorns that crowned thy brow,
by the spear wound and the nailing,
by the pain and death, I now
claim, O Christ, thy love unfailing. [Refrain]

Wilt thou own the gift I bring?
All my penitence I give thee;
thou art my exalted King,
of thy matchless love forgive me. [Refrain]

Hymn –  “Merciful God”

Merciful God O abounding in love

Faithful to all who draw near You

Hearing the cries of the humble in heart

Showing the cross they may cling to

Helpless I come broken in sin

Found at the feet of Your mercy

Father forgive

May my sin be remembered no more

Merciful God O abounding in love

Faithful through times we have failed You

Selfish in thought and uncaring in deed

Foolish in word and ungrateful

Spirit of God conquer our hearts

With love that flows from forgiveness

Cause us to yield

And return to the mercy of God

Merciful God O abounding in love

Faithful to keep us from falling

Guiding our ways with Your fatherly heart

Growing our faith with each testing

God speed the day struggles will end

Faultless we'll gaze on Your glory

Then we will stand

Overwhelmed by the mercy of God
