9:30a Service

Call to Worship: Psalm 95:1-3

Leader: Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a  joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

People: Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;  let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! Leader: For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above  all gods.

Prayer of Adoration, Assistance & Blessing

Hymnal #211 “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen”

God rest you merry, gentlemen,

let nothing you dismay,

remember Christ our Savior

was born on Christmas day,

to save us all from Satan's pow'r

when we were gone astray;

Refrain:

O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy,

O tidings of comfort and joy.

From God our heav'nly Father,

a blessed angel came;

and unto certain shepherds

brought tidings of the same:

how that in Bethlehem was born

the son of God by name. [Refrain]

freestar

"Fear not, then," said the angel,

"let nothing you affright;

this day is born a Savior

of a pure virgin bright,

to free all those who trust in him

from Satan's pow'r and might." [Refrain]

The shepherds at those tidings

rejoiced much in mind,

and left their flocks a-feeding,

in tempest, storm, and wind:

and went to Bethlehem straightway,

the Son of God to find. [Refrain]

Reflection on the Law

Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart  and with all your soul and with all your mind.

People: This is the great and first commandment

Leader: God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord  your God. You shall have no other gods before me.”

People: For although there may be so-called “gods” in  heaven or on earth… yet for us there is one God.

Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol. People: What agreement has the temple of God with  idols? For we are the temple of the living God.

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in  vain.

People: Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that  you may not fall under condemnation.

Leader: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of  God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested  from his works as God did from his

Silent Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Pardon - Colossians 2:6-7

Hymnal #208 - “O Come, All Ye Faithful”

O come, all ye faithful,

joyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;

come and behold him

born the King of angels;

Refrain:

O come, let us adore him,

O come, let us adore him,

O come, let us adore him,

Christ the Lord.

God of God,

Light of Light;

lo, he abhors not the Virgin's womb; very God,

begotten, not created; [Refrain]

Sing, choirs of angels,

sing in exultation,

sing, all ye citizens of heav'n above; glory to God

in the highest; [Refrain]

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,

born this happy morning:

Jesus, to thee be all glory giv'n; Word of the Father,

late in flesh appearing; [Refrain]

Prayer of the Church – Elder M. Ewing Psalm 99 ”The Lord Is King Indeed”

The LORD is King indeed;

Let nations shake with fear.

He sits above the cherubim;

Let earth be moved.

The LORD in Zion rules

And over all is high.

O praise His great and awesome name, The Holy One.

The power of the King

Delights in equity;

In Jacob You established law

And righteousness.

Exalt and celebrate

The LORD who is our God,

And at His footstool worship Him, The Holy One.

For Moses was His priest,

And Aaron, too, did serve,

And Samuel with them who called Upon His name.

They called the LORD; He heard. He spoke from out the cloud.

His testimonies they obeyed,

They kept His laws.

O LORD our God, You heard,

Your answer gave to them.

You were a God forgiving, yet

Avenging wrongs.

Exalt the LORD our God;

Bow to His holy hill.

Behold, He is the Holy One,

The LORD our God.

God’s Word Read – Acts 14:19-28

God’s Word Preached – “Mission Accomplished”  Pastor Joel E. Wood

Prayer of Application and the Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.  Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in  heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us  our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead  us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For yours  is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Hymnal #221 – “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming”

Lo, how a rose e'er blooming from tender stem hath sprung, of Jesse's lineage coming,

as men of old have sung.

It came, a flow'ret bright,

amid the cold of winter,

when half-spent was the night.

Isaiah 'twas foretold it,

the rose I have in mind;

with Mary we behold it,

the virgin mother kind.

To show God's love aright,

she bore to men a Savior,

when half-spent was the night. freestar

The shepherds heard the story, proclaimed by angels bright, how Christ, the Lord of glory, was born on earth this night. To Bethlehem they sped

and in the manger found him, as angel heralds said.

This flow'r, whose fragrance tender with sweetness fills the air, dispels with glorious splendor the darkness ev'rywhere.

True man, yet very God;

from sin and death he saves us

and lightens ev'ry load.

O Savior, child of Mary,

who felt our human woe;

O Savior, King of glory,

who dost our weakness know,

bring us at length, we pray,

to the bright courts of heaven

and to the endless day.

Hymnal p. 845 - “Apostles Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.

He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the  communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the

resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Words of Institution and Warning

Communion Prayer

Serving of the Supper

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Song of Praise – “Joy Has Dawned”

Joy has dawned upon the world

Promised from creation

God's salvation now unfurled

Hope for ev'ry nation

Not with fanfares from above

Not with scenes of glory

But a humble gift of love

Jesus born of Mary

Sounds of wonder fill the sky

With the songs of angels

As the mighty Prince of Life

Shelters in a stable

Hands that set each star in place

Shaped the earth in darkness

Cling now to a mother's breast

Vulnerable and helpless

Shepherds bow before the Lamb

Gazing at the glory

Gifts of men from distant lands

Prophesy the story

Gold a King is born today

Incense God is with us

Myrrh His death will make a way By His blood He'll win us

Son of Adam Son of heaven

Given as a ransom

Reconciling God and man

Christ our mighty Champion

What a Savior what a Friend

What a glorious mystery

Once a babe in Bethlehem

Now the Lord of history

Hymnal #731 - “Doxology”

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Benediction
