Welcome and Announcements

Call to Worship

Leader: But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.

People: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

Leader: God, the Lord, is my strength;

People: He makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.

All: Praise be to God!

TH #181  “We Come, O Christ, to You”

We come, O Christ, to you,
true Son of God and man,
by whom all things consist,
in whom all life began:
in you alone we live and move,
and have our being in your love.

You are the Way to God,
your blood our ransom paid;
in you we face our Judge
and Maker unafraid.
Before the throne absolved we stand,
your love has met your law’s demand.

You are the living Truth!
All wisdom dwells in you,
the Source of every skill,
the one eternal TRUE!
O great I AM! In you we rest,
sure answer to our every quest.

You only are true Life,
to know you is to live
the more abundant life
that earth can never give:
O risen Lord! We live in you:
in us each day your life renew!

We worship you, Lord Christ,
our Savior and our King,
to you our youth and strength
adoringly we bring:
so fill our hearts, that all may view
your life in us, and turn to you!

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

People: This is the great and first commandment.

Leader: God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me."

People: For although there may be so-called "gods" in heaven or on earth…yet for us there is one God.

Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol.

People: What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God.

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

People: Let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Leader:  Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

Silent Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Grace – 1 Corinthians 15:3

TH #656   “Jesus, Priceless Treasure”

Jesus, priceless treasure,
source of purest pleasure,
truest Friend to me:
ah, how long in anguish
shall my spirit languish,
yearning, Lord, for thee?
Thine I am, O spotless Lamb!
I will suffer naught to hide thee,
naught I ask beside thee.

In thine arms I rest me;
foes who would molest me
cannot reach me here.
Though the earth be shaking,
ev'ry heart be quaking,
Jesus calms my fear.
Lightnings flash and thunders crash;
yet, though sin and hell assail me,
Jesus will not fail me.

Satan, I defy thee;
death, I now decry thee;
fear, I bid thee cease.
World, thou shalt not harm me
nor thy threats alarm me
while I sing of peace.
God's great pow'r guards ev'ry hour;
earth and all its depths adore him,
silent bow before him.

Hence with earthly treasure!
Thou art all my pleasure,
Jesus, all my choice.
Hence, thou empty glory!
Naught to me thy story,
told with tempting voice.
Pain or loss or shame or cross
shall not from my Savior move me,
since he deigns to love me.

Hence, all fear and sadness!
For the Lord of gladness,
Jesus, enters in.
Those who love the Father,
Though the storms may gather,
Still have peace within.
Yea, whate'er I here must bear,
thou art still my purest pleasure,
Jesus, priceless treasure.

Prayer of the Church: Elder Pastor M. Connor Underseth

Psalm 42:1-5 “As the Deer for Streams, I Pant for God”

As deer for streams, I pant for God;

I pant for You so longingly.

I thirst for God, the living God;

How long until God’s face I see?

In steady streams, tears from my eyes

Have been my food each night and day;

While those around, with mocking cries,

“Where is your God?” to me they say.

My yearning soul turns to the past;

To keep the feast I led the crowd.

Up to God’s house we’d come at last;

With joyful thanks we’d shout aloud.

O why, my soul, do you grow ill?

And why are you cast down in me?

Hope now in God. I’ll praise Him still,

My helper and my God is He.

PRAYER OF APPLICATION & THE LORD’S PRAYER

TH #251 “Beneath the Cross of Jesus”

Beneath the cross of Jesus
I fain would take my stand,
the shadow of a mighty Rock
within a weary land;
a home within the wilderness,
a rest upon the way,
from the burning of the noon-tide heat
and the burden of the day.

Upon the cross of Jesus
mine eye at times can see
the very dying form of One
who suffered there for me:
and from my stricken heart with tears
two wonders I confess,
the wonders of redeeming love
and my unworthiness.

I take, O cross, thy shadow
for my abiding place:
I ask no other sunshine than
the sunshine of his face;
content to let the world go by,
to know no gain nor loss;
my sinful self my only shame,
my glory all the cross.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Hymn. “We Will Feast in the House of Zion”

Chorus:

We will feast in the house of Zion

We will sing with our hearts restored

He has done great things we will say together

We will feast and weep no more

We will not be burned by the fire

He is the Lord our God

We are not consumed by the flood

Upheld protected gathered up [Chorus]

In the dark of night before the dawn

My soul be not afraid

For the promised morning oh how long

Oh God of Jacob be my strength [Chorus]

Every vow we’ve broken and betrayed

You are the faithful one

And from the garden to the grave

Bind us together bring shalom [Chorus]
