Choral Introit

Call to Worship.  Psalm 115:1, 18

Leader: Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your

steadfast love and your faithfulness!

People: But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.

All: Praise the Lord!

Trinity Hymnal #53 “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation!

All ye who hear, now to his temple draw near,

join me in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth,

shelters thee under his wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!

Hast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have been

granted in what he ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee!

Surely his goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;

ponder anew what the Almighty will do,

if with his love he befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord, who with marvelous wisdom hath made thee,

decked thee with health, and with loving hand guided and stayed thee.

How oft in grief hath not he brought thee relief,

spreading his wings to o'ershade thee!

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!

All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him!

Let the amen sound from his people again;

gladly fore'er we adore him.

GodREFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

People: This is the great and first commandment.

Leader: God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me."

People: For although there may be so-called "gods" in heaven or on earth…yet for us there is one God.

Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol.

People: What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the

temple of the living God.

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

People: Let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall

under condemnation.

Leader: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has

entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

Song  “His Mercy Is More”

What love could remember no wrongs we have done?

Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum.

Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore,

Our sins, they are many; His mercy is more.

What patience would wait as we constantly roam?

What Father, so tender, is calling us home?

He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor.

Our sins, they are many; His mercy is more.

What riches of kindness He lavished on us.

His blood was the payment; His life was the cost.

We stood 'neath a debt we could never afford.

Our sins, they are many; His mercy is more.

Chorus:

Praise the Lord, His mercy is more.

Stronger than darkness, new ev’ry morn.

Our sins, they are many; His mercy is

more. [Repeat]

Prayer of the Church

Psalm 108 “God, My Heart Is Steadfast” (tune: Trinity Hymnal #100)

God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing praises.

And with all my being to You my song I’ll sing.

Waken harp and psalt’ry; dawn I will awaken,

With many peoples, LORD, I thanks will bring.

LORD, among the peoples I’ll sing Your praises,

From among the nations my praise to You will rise.

For Your lovingkindness is above the heavens,

Your faithfulness extends into the skies.

God, above the heavens O be exalted,

And above all earth may Your glory lifted be;

So that Your beloved then may be delivered,

Save with Your right hand; answer give to me.

PRAYER OF APPLICATION & THE LORD’S PRAYER

Trinity Hymnal #263 “Lift High the Cross”

Refrain:

Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim,

till all the world adore his sacred name.

Come, brethren, follow where our Savior trod,

our King victorious, Christ, the Son of God. [Refrain]

Led on their way by this triumphant sign,

the hosts of God in conqu'ring ranks combine. [Refrain]

O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree,

as thou hast promised, draw men unto thee. [Refrain]

Thy kingdom come, that earth's despair may cease

beneath the shadow of its healing peace. [Refrain]

For thy blest cross which doth for us atone,

creation's praises rise before thy throne. [Refrain]
