GREETING & CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!

People: My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Leader: O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!

All: Praise the Lord!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, & BLESSING

Trinity Hymnal #38 “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
thy justice like mountains high soaring above
thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
all praise we would render; O help us to see
'tis only the splendor of light hideth thee!

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

People: This is the great and first commandment.

Leader: God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me."

People: For although there may be so-called "gods" in heaven or on earth…yet for us there is one God.

Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol.

People: What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God.

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

People: Let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Leader:  Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

Trinity Hymnal  “I Need Thee, Precious Jesus”

I need thee, precious Jesus,
for I am full of sin;
my soul is dark and guilty,
my heart is dead within.
I need the cleansing fountain
where I can always flee,
the blood of Christ most precious,
the sinner's perfect plea.

I need thee, precious Jesus,
for I am very poor;
a stranger and a pilgrim,
I have no earthly store.
I need the love of Jesus
to cheer me on my way,
to guide my doubting footsteps,
to be my strength and stay.

I need thee, precious Jesus,
and hope to see thee soon,
encircled with the rainbow
and seated on thy throne.
There, with thy blood-bought children,
my joy shall ever be,
to sing my Jesus' praises,
to gaze, O Lord, on thee.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH

Psalm 103  “Bless the Lord, My Soul”

Bless the LORD, my soul. My whole heart,

Ever bless His holy name.

Bless the LORD, my soul. Forget not

All His blessings to proclaim.

He forgives all your transgressions,

Your diseases all He heals.

He redeems you from destruction,

And with you He kindly deals.

He with love and mercy crowns you,

Satisfies your years with good;

So that you will, like the eagle,

With youth’s vigor be renewed.

He shall intervene with justice

For all those who are oppressed;

For their sake the LORD takes action,

Governing in righteousness.

GOD’S WORD READ Acts 15:36-41

GOD’S WORD PREACHED “Peacemaking in the Body of Christ”
by Pastor Joel E. Wood

Prayer of Application & The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Trinity Hymnal #243  “Praise the Savior Now and Ever”

Praise the Savior now and ever;
praise him, all beneath the skies;
prostrate lying, suff'ring, dying
on the cross, a sacrifice.
Vict'ry gaining, life obtaining,
now in glory he doth rise.

Man's work faileth, Christ's availeth;
he is all our righteousness;
he, our Savior, has forever
set us free from dire distress.
Through his merit we inherit
light and peace and happiness.

Sin's bonds severed, we're delivered;
Christ has bruised the serpent's head;
death no longer is the stronger;
hell itself is captive led.
Christ has risen from death's prison;
o'er the tomb he light has shed.

For his favor, praise for ever
unto God the Father sing;
praise the Savior, praise him ever,
Son of God, our Lord and King.
Praise the Spirit; through Christ's merit
he doth us salvation bring.

Trinity Hymnal p. 845  “Apostles’ Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All:  I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & WARNING

Minister: The Lord be with you;

People: And also with you.

Minister: Lift up your hearts;

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;

People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

COMMUNION PRAYER

Approach the Table for the Lord’s Supper

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Song “Good and Gracious King”

I approach the throne of glory;

Nothing in my hands I bring

But the promise of acceptance

From a good and gracious King.

I will give to You my burden

As You give to me Your strength.

Come and fill me with Your Spirit

As I sing to You this praise.

You deserve the greater glory.

Overcome, I lift my voice

To the King in need of nothing;

Empty handed, I rejoice.

You deserve the greater glory;

Overcome with joy I sing.

By Your love I am accepted;

You're a good and gracious King.

O what grace that You would see me

As Your child and as Your friend.

Safe secure in You forever,

I pour out my praise again.

You deserve the greater glory.

Overcome, I lift my voice

To the King in need of nothing;

Empty handed, I rejoice.

You deserve the greater glory;

Overcome with joy I sing.

By Your love I am accepted;

You're a good and gracious King.

Holy, holy, Lord Almighty,

Good and gracious,

Good and gracious,

Holy, holy, Lord Almighty,

Good and gracious King.

Holy, holy, Lord Almighty,

Good and gracious,

Good and gracious,

Holy, holy, Lord Almighty,

Good and gracious King.

You deserve the greater glory.

Overcome, I lift my voice

To the King in need of nothing;

Empty handed, I rejoice.

You deserve the greater glory;

Overcome with joy I sing.

By Your love I am accepted;

You're a good and gracious King.
You're a good and gracious King.

You’re a good and gracious King.
