GREETING & CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright

People: Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!

Leader: Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
People: For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.

Leader: He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, & BLESSING

Hymnal #296 “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name”

All hail the pow'r of Jesus' name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all;
bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all.

Crown him, ye martyrs of your God,
who from his altar call;
extol the Stem of Jesse's rod,
and crown him Lord of all;
extol the Stem of Jesse's rod,
and crown him Lord of all.

Ye seed of Israel's chosen race,
ye ransomed of the fall,
hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all;
hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all.

Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget
the wormwood and the gall,
go, spread your trophies at his feet,
and crown him Lord of all;
go, spread your trophies at his feet,
and crown him Lord of all.

Let ev'ry kindred, ev'ry tribe,
on this terrestrial ball,
to him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all;
to him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all.

O that with yonder sacred throng
we at his feet may fall;
we'll join the everlasting song,
and crown him Lord of all;
we'll join the everlasting song,
and crown him Lord of all.

Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne;
hark! how the heav'nly anthem drowns
all music but its own:
awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless King
through all eternity.

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: Honor your father and your mother.

People: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Leader: You shall not murder.

People: Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

Leader: You shall not commit adultery.

People: Everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent

has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Leader: You shall not steal.

People: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.  Do your work quietly and earn your own living.

Leader: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

People: Having put away falsehood,

let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor.

Leader: You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor's.

People: For the whole law is fulfilled in one word:  "You shall love your

neighbor as yourself."

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

Hymnal #528 “My Faith Looks Up to Thee”

My faith looks up to thee,
thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine;
now hear me while I pray,
take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day
be wholly thine.

May thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart,
my zeal inspire;
as thou hast died for me,
O may my love to thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire.

While life's dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be thou my guide;
bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow's tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from thee aside.

When ends life's transient dream,
when death's cold, sullen stream
shall o'er me roll,
blest Savior, then, in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
Pastor M. Connor Underseth

Psalm 43:1-5 “O Vindicate Me”

O vindicate me, plead my cause

Against a thankless nation, God;

From him who works deceitfully

To bring about his unjust ends,

Now grant deliverance to me.

You are the God who gives me strength.

Why have You now abandoned me?

Grieving, oppressed by enemies,

Send out Your light and truth to me

That they may clearly guide my way,

To lead me to Your holy hill

And to Your dwelling places there.

Then I will to God’s altar go,

To God, the greatest of my joys.

With harp I’ll praise You, God, my God.

My soul, why so cast down, disturbed?

Hope now in God. I’ll praise Him still.

He is my help. He is my God

GOD’S WORD PREACHED
“Justice and Death”
by Pastoral M. Connor Underseth

Prayer Of Application & The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Song “We Worship at Your Feet”

Come and see come and see

Come and see the King of love

See the purple robe and crown of thorns He wears

Soldiers mock rulers sneer

As He lifts the cruel cross

Lone and friendless now He climbs towards the hill

Chorus:

We worship at your feet

Where wrath and mercy meet

And a guilty world is washed by love's pure stream

For us He was made sin

Oh help me take it in

Deep wounds of love cry out 'Father forgive '

I worship I worship the Lamb who was slain

Come and weep come and mourn

For your sin that pierced Him there

So much deeper than the wounds of thorn and nail

All our pride all our greed

All our fallenness and shame

And the Lord has laid the punishment on Him. [Chorus]

Man of heaven born to earth

To restore us to Your heaven

Here we bow in awe beneath Your searching eyes

From Your tears comes our joy

From Your death our life shall spring

By Your resurrection power we shall rise. [Chorus]

Hymnal p. 845  “Apostles’ Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All:  I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & WARNING

Minister: The Lord be with you;

People: And also with you.

Minister: Lift up your hearts;

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;

People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

COMMUNION PRAYER

Approach the Table for the Lord’s Supper

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Song “Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me”

What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer

There is no more for heaven now to give

He is my joy my righteousness and freedom

My steadfast love my deep and boundless peace

To this I hold my hope is only Jesus

For my life is wholly bound to his

Oh how strange and divine I can sing all is mine

Yet not I but through Christ in me

The night is dark but I am not forsaken

For by my side the Saviour he will stay

I labour on in weakness and rejoicing

For in my need his power is displayed

To this I hold my Shepherd will defend me

Through the deepest valley he will lead

Oh the night has been won and I shall overcome

Yet not I but through Christ in me

No fate I dread I know I am forgiven

The future sure the price it has been paid

For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon

And he was raised to overthrow the grave

To this I hold my sin has been defeated

Jesus now and ever is my plea

Oh the chains are released I can sing I am free

Yet not I but through Christ in me

With every breath I long to follow Jesus

For he has said that he will bring me home

And day by day I know he will renew me

Until I stand with joy before the throne

To this I hold my hope is only Jesus

All the glory evermore to him

When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat

Yet not I but through Christ in me

When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat

Yet not I but through Christ in me

Yet not I but through Christ in me
