Welcome and Announcements

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise…”

GREETING & CALL TO WORSHIP  Psalm 34:1-3

Leader: I will bless the Lord at all  times; his praise shall continually be  in my mouth.

People: My soul makes its boast in  the Lord, let the humble hear and  be glad.

Leader: Oh, magnify the Lord with me. All: let us exalt his name together!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, &  BLESSING

We have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus…”

Hymnal #295 “Crown Him with Many  Crown”

Crown him with many crowns,

the Lamb upon his throne;

hark! how the heav'nly anthem drowns all music but its own:

awake, my soul, and sing

of him who died for thee,

and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

Crown him the Lord of love;

behold his hands and side,

rich wounds, yet visible above,

in beauty glorified:

no angel in the sky

can fully bear that sight,

but downward bends his burning eye at mysteries so bright.

Crown him the Lord of peace;

whose pow'r a scepter sways

from pole to pole, that wars may cease,

absorbed in prayer and praise:

his reign shall know no end;

and round his pierced feet

fair flow'rs of paradise extend

their fragrance ever sweet.

Crown him the Lord of years,

the Potentate of time;

Creator of the rolling spheres,

ineffably sublime:

all hail, Redeemer, hail!

for thou hast died for me:

thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity.

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

from Exodus 20:1-17 & N.T. corollaries, ESV

Leader: You shall love the Lord your  God with all your heart and with all  your soul and with all your mind. People: This is the great and first  commandment. (Matt. 22: 37-38)

Leader: God spoke all these words,  saying, "I am the Lord your God. You  shall have no other gods before me."

People: For although there may be so called "gods" in heaven or on earth…  yet for us there is one God. (1 Cor. 8:5- 6)

Leader: You shall not make for yourself  an idol.

People: What agreement has the  temple of God with idols? For we are  the temple of the living God. (2 Cor.  6:16)

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

People: Let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. (Jam. 5:12)

Leader: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. People: Having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor. (Eph. 4:25)

Leader: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for

whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. (Heb. 4:9-10)

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON Micah 7:18

Who is a God like you, pardoning

iniquity and passing over transgression  for the remnant of his inheritance? He  does not retain his anger forever,

because he delights in steadfast love.”

“Today, if you hear His voice, Do not  harden your hearts…”

Hymnal #675 “Only Trust Him”

Come, every soul by sin oppressed, There's mercy with the Lord;

And He will surely give you rest,

By trusting in His word.

Only trust Him, only trust Him,

Only trust Him now;

Refrain:

He will save you, He will save you, He will save you now.

For Jesus shed His precious blood Rich blessings to bestow;

Plunge now into the crimson flood That washes white as snow.

Come to Jesus, come to Jesus,

Come to Jesus now; [Refrain]

Yes, Jesus is the truth, the way,

That leads you into rest;

Believe in Him without delay,

And you are fully blest.

Don't reject Him, don't reject Him, Don't reject Him now; [Refrain]

Come then and join this holy band, And on to glory go,

To dwell in that celestial land,

Where joys immortal flow.

I will trust Him, I will trust Him,

I will trust Him now; [Refrain]

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH Elder Bill Wood

Psalm 45:1-10; Hymnal #169 “My Heart  Does Overflow”

My heart does overflow,

a goodly theme is mine;

my eager tongue with joyful song does praise the King divine. Supremely fair you are,

your lips with grace o'erflow; his richest blessings evermore does God on you bestow.

Now gird thee with your sword, O strong and mighty One, in splendid majesty arrayed, more glorious than the sun. Triumphantly ride forth

for meekness, truth, and right; your arm shall gain the victory in wondrous deeds of might.

Your strength shall overcome all those that hate the King, and under your dominion strong the nations you shall bring. Your royal throne, O God,

forevermore shall stand;

eternal truth and justice wield the scepter in your hand.

Since you were sinless found,

the Lord, by you confessed,

anointed you with perfect joy—

you are supremely blessed.

Your garments breathe of myrrh and spices sweet and rare;

glad strains of heav'nly music ring throughout your palace fair.

Amid your glorious train

kings' daughters waiting stand,

and fairest gems bedeck your bride, the queen at your right hand.

O royal bride, give heed,

and to my words attend;

for Christ, the King, forsake the world and ev'ry former friend.

GOD’S WORD READ Acts 12:1-9

GOD’S WORD PREACHED

“The Power of Prayer” Pastor Joel E. Wood

PRAYER OF APPLICATION & THE LORD’S  PRAYER

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and  forgive us our debts, as we also have  forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into  temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For yours is the kingdom and the power  and the glory, forever. Amen.

“Now therefore, O LORD,

let your word be confirmed…”

Songbook #36 “I Have Been Crucified with  Christ”

I have been crucified with Christ

And I no longer live;

I have been crucified with Christ

And I no longer live,

But Christ lives in me.

The life I live in the body,

I live by faith in the son of God,

Who loved me and gave himself for  me;

Who loved me and gave himself for  me.

Hymnal p. 845 “Apostles’ Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was  crucified, died, and was buried; he  descended into hell. The third day he rose  again from the dead. He ascended into  Heaven and is seated at the right hand of  God the Father Almighty.

From there he will come to judge the  living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy  catholic church, the communion of  saints, the forgiveness of sins, the  resurrection of the body, and the life  everlasting. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & WARNING

Minister: The Lord be with you;

People: And also with you.

Minister: Lift up your hearts;

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;

People: It is right to give him thanks and  praise.

COMMUNION PRAYER

Approach the Table for the Lord’s Supper Prayer of Thanksgiving

Song “My Savior’s Love” (Tune TH500)

When my vision clouds with fear Jesus’  love will draw me near

With His love to hold me fast doubts  and fears can never last

Bound for hell no more am I; loved in  Christ, Ill never die

He who would not break a reed gave  Himself to meet my need

Gods own Son has died for me, paid  my ransom; now Im free

Love of Jesus, ever sure, made me  clean; in Him I am pure

Not my power nor my love turned my  gaze to Him above

Only Jesus ended strife; twas His love  that gave me life

Death no more can threaten me; all my  righteousness is He

Love has opened heavens door: life in  Him forever more

Filled with love, no room for fear; joy in  heaven always near

With these eyes His face Ill see; ever  bless-ed I will be

Hymnal #731: “Doxology”
